Leadership

	Richard Schmitzer President and CEO Mr. Schmitzer joined James River in July 2009 as Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer from more than eighteen years at the Scottsdale Insurance Company where he served in a variety of underwriting and underwriting management roles and most recently as Vice President for Brokerage, Professional Liability, and Programs. Since joining James River, he has been responsible for all of James River’s underwriting direction and was promoted to his current position in March, 2010.
	John Clarke Senior Vice President, Director of Marketing John joined James River in 2003. Previous roles include Senior Vice-President and Chief Product Development for Renaissance Re - U.S. Holdings, Vice-President for Markel Corporation with various roles including Director of Marketing for the Essex Insurance Company and Shand-Morahan Group, and various commercial and personal underwriting areas within Markel American Insurance Company, and as a Product Manager for Progressive Corporation managing multi-state underwriting operations.
	Bruce Short Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Bruce was named Chief Financial Officer of James River Insurance Company in July 2009. He joined James River in 2006 in the role of Vice President – Finance. Previous roles included service as Assistant Vice President of Finance and later Chief Financial Officer for the Missouri Employers Mutual Insurance Company, Vice President and Controller of AmCOMP Inc., and in public accounting specializing in insurance clients for PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
	Raju Sodhi Vice President and Chief Information Officer Raju joined James River in 2002 and was responsible for core systems development and implementation including policy and claims management, reporting and data warehouse. Since that time, he has managed application development, support, database, and IT operations. Prior to joining James River, Raju served at the Colony Insurance Group in a variety of technical positions in the IT department, and as a software developer for the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals.
	Fred Thistle Vice President and Chief Claims Officer Fred joined James River in December 2003. Previously roles include Director of Claims with The Reciprocal Group, Divisional Claims Manager within Markel Corporation, and other roles with the Insurance Company of North America, the St. Paul Companies, the Massachusetts Joint Underwriting Association, and the Pennsylvania Medical Society Liability Insurance Company among others.
	Richard Seward Vice President and Chief Actuary Richard joined James River in 2009. Previous roles included Vice President and Actuary for Endurance Specialty Insurance, Ltd., Assistant Vice President at Portfolio Recovery Associates, Actuary for Renaissance Re - U.S. Holdings, and as a reserving actuary for Markel Corporation.
	Angie Burnett Assistant Vice President and Director of Human Resources Angie joined James River in April 2009. Prior to joining James River, she spent seven years at LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc., most recently as the Vice President of Human Resources. Previous roles include HR Manager for World Access and HR and Training Manager for Patient First.
	Emily Cash Regulatory/Compliance and Product Development Manager Emily joined James River in November 2009. Previous roles include Senior Product Development/Compliance Specialist with Markel Insurance Company, Development Analyst III with Colony Management, Inc. and as the first Regulatory/Compliance Manager for James River in 2003.

Underwriting Division Managers

	Crileen Kixmoeller Vice President – Excess Casualty, Life Sciences and Manufacturers and Contractors Crileen joined James River in 2003 as Division Manager for Excess Casualty coming from a similar role as Excess Casualty Manager at Kemper Insurance Group serving eleven Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain States. In 2009, she assumed additional responsibility for managing the Manufacturers & Contractors and Life Sciences Divisions. Prior roles include Branch Manager for AIG’s Middle Market Umbrella Division, and Vice President at Cravens Pacific.
	David Weisenberger Vice President, Division Manager – Allied Healthcare, Medical Professionals, and Professional Liability (non-Medical) David joined James River in 2009. Prior to joining James River, he served in a variety of positions over seventeen years with Markel Corporation. Most recently, Mr. Weisenberger was a Managing Director- Casualty for Markel. He previously worked in the Markel Shand division on two separate occasions.
	Richard Kern Division Manager – Energy and Environmental Rich joined James River in late 2003 to found our Energy division. He assumed responsibility for the Environmental division in 2009. Prior roles include President of Risk Management Practices, Inc., Vice President for Zurich Energy Casualty and AIG Energy Vice President Home Office Specialist.
	Eric Taylor Vice President – General Casualty, Sports & Entertainment, and Small Account – Casualty Eric joined James River in 2004 from K&K Insurance Group where he served as Underwriting Director of various multi-line, program business for Lexington and Nationwide Insurance.
	Tony Owens Division Manager – Property Tony joined James River in 2009 from over twenty years with Markel Corporation. While with Markel, he served as Executive Underwriter and Territory Manager in the Special Property Division of Essex Insurance Company, Vice President of Underwriting & Operations of the Camp & Youth Recreation Division of Markel Insurance Company, among other roles. Prior to Markel, Tony was with KPMG Peat Marwick.
